Coin lockers at Kansai Airport (KIX)
Osaka — international gateway for Kansai
Kansai Airport has coin lockers in Terminal 1, Terminal 2 and the Aeroplaza building, usable around the clock and operated by JAL ABC. The rates most commonly quoted are ¥400 small, ¥600 medium and ¥800 for a suitcase-sized large, per day.
The airport page also lists a cheaper tier on the domestic departures floor of Terminal 1, and a three-hour rate for short stops. The lockers here are reported to be cashless — transit IC, QR or credit card — so do not count on coins.
Because the airport page could not be read directly at the time of checking, treat the KIX locker figures on this page as less firm than the Narita ones and confirm at the counter.
Sizes you will find here
| Class | Inside W × D × H (cm) | Typical price per day | What it holds |
|---|---|---|---|
| Small (S) | 34 × 57 × 32 | ¥400–600 | A backpack or a soft holdall. Most cabin cases are too wide. |
| Medium (M) | 34 × 57 × 50 | ¥500–800 | A cabin suitcase up to roughly 22 inches, laid on its back. |
| Large (L) | 34 × 57 × 84 | ¥700–1000 | A checked case up to roughly 28 inches if its depth with wheels is under 33 cm. |
These are the common cabinet sizes, not a guarantee for this station: operators buy their own cabinets and even publish the figures as approximate. Measure your case and check it in the size checker before you count on a locker.
If the lockers are full
- JAL ABC and Kansai Airport Baggage Service run staffed storage at about ¥800 small, ¥1,000 medium and ¥2,000 large per day.
- Airport takkyubin from KIX carries an extra handling fee on the return leg, which is worth knowing before you book a round trip.
- A porter service in Terminal 1 starts at around ¥530 and must be reserved the previous evening.
This site does not show live locker availability. Several operators run their own vacancy search — look for the "locker concierge" screens in the concourse, or ask at the information counter.
Frequently asked questions
How much does a coin locker cost at Kansai Airport (KIX)?
Expect roughly ¥400 for the smallest size and up to about ¥1000 for the largest, per calendar day rather than per 24 hours. Prices are set per bank of lockers, so two banks in the same station can differ, and some operators raise them in peak seasons.
Will a large suitcase fit a locker at Kansai Airport (KIX)?
The large cabinets are about 34 × 57 × 84 cm inside, which takes a case up to roughly 28 inches if you lay it on its back and its depth including the wheels is under about 33 cm. Anything bigger needs an extra-large cabinet, which not every bank has, or a staffed counter.
What if every locker is full?
Full lockers are normal at Kansai Airport (KIX) from mid-morning onwards in peak seasons. The reliable fallbacks are a staffed baggage room, a storage service such as ecbo cloak that books a café or shop by the day, or sending the case to your next hotel by takkyubin so you do not have to carry it at all.
