Coin lockers at Namba Station
Osaka — Minami
Namba is really several stations under one name. Osaka Metro Namba has eight locker banks on the Midosuji side and three on the Yotsubashi side, all of them outside the ticket gates.
The Yotsubashi side banks are small: about twelve small lockers at ¥400 and six medium at ¥600, and they are cash only. Carry ¥100 coins here.
Nankai Namba, the station for the airport train, uses newer panel-type lockers that accept coins, ¥1,000 notes, electronic money, QR codes and contactless credit cards, and they can be used from the first Nankai train until just after midnight.
Sizes you will find here
| Class | Inside W × D × H (cm) | Typical price per day | What it holds |
|---|---|---|---|
| Small (S) | 34 × 57 × 32 | ¥400–600 | A backpack or a soft holdall. Most cabin cases are too wide. |
| Medium (M) | 34 × 57 × 50 | ¥500–800 | A cabin suitcase up to roughly 22 inches, laid on its back. |
| Large (L) | 34 × 57 × 84 | ¥700–1000 | A checked case up to roughly 28 inches if its depth with wheels is under 33 cm. |
These are the common cabinet sizes, not a guarantee for this station: operators buy their own cabinets and even publish the figures as approximate. Measure your case and check it in the size checker before you count on a locker.
If the lockers are full
- Dotonbori and Shinsaibashi are full of ecbo cloak shops, and they are a short walk from any of the Namba gates.
- If you are heading to Kansai Airport from here, hand the case in at the airport counter instead and travel light.
- Osaka Station has many times the locker capacity if your plans allow the detour.
This site does not show live locker availability. Several operators run their own vacancy search — look for the "locker concierge" screens in the concourse, or ask at the information counter.
Frequently asked questions
How much does a coin locker cost at Namba Station?
Expect roughly ¥400 for the smallest size and up to about ¥1000 for the largest, per calendar day rather than per 24 hours. Prices are set per bank of lockers, so two banks in the same station can differ, and some operators raise them in peak seasons.
Will a large suitcase fit a locker at Namba Station?
The large cabinets are about 34 × 57 × 84 cm inside, which takes a case up to roughly 28 inches if you lay it on its back and its depth including the wheels is under about 33 cm. Anything bigger needs an extra-large cabinet, which not every bank has, or a staffed counter.
What if every locker is full?
Full lockers are normal at Namba Station from mid-morning onwards in peak seasons. The reliable fallbacks are a staffed baggage room, a storage service such as ecbo cloak that books a café or shop by the day, or sending the case to your next hotel by takkyubin so you do not have to carry it at all.
